Benefits:
The standing 1 arm chest press using a cable builds good chest strength and helps you produce force in a standing position.
Pre-Requisites:
You should be able to perform a standing 2 arm Chest Press before progressing to this 1 arm variation.
Set Up:
Stand tall, in a split stance, facing away form the cable machine.
Hold the handle in one hand with the elbow up at chest height and your knuckles facing forwards.
Activate your core by drawing your bellybutton on towards your spine and lifting your pelvic muscles up and in.
Draw your shoulder blades down and in slightly to form a slight V.
Action:
Exhale as you powerfully press the arm forward in an arc movement.
Your hand should be inline with the centre of your chest once extended.
Pause briefly, then inhale as you return the arm to the start position.
Perform the desired amount of reps with the one arm before switching sides on the next set.
